The pediatric neurologist and sleep doctor Ioanna Kouri was born and raised in Athens and graduated from the Medical School of Ioannina. She completed her specialty in pediatrics at the “Agia Sofia Children’s Hospital”. She then obtained an ECFMG (Certificate from Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates), which is required to begin a specialty in the United States.
She then majored in Pediatric Neurology at the University of Iowa, IA, USA and Sleep Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA.
Returning to Greece, she is an associate physician of the private hospitals of Mitera, Metropolitan and Leto maternity hospital, while at the same time she is a research associate of the Mayo Clinic in the USA.
She is a graduate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology and the American Board of Sleep Medicine. Holds a license to practice in the USA and in Greece and is an active member of many scientific societies.
Her research focuses on children’s strokes, neuromuscular diseases and central sleep apnea. She has a significant number of presentations at international conferences and publications in international medical journals.
