Gina G. Thanopoulou, Ed.M and M.A, is a Counseling Psychologist Personal Wellness Advisor, with graduate and postgraduate studies at Harvard University. She has specialized in Counselling
Developmental and Positive Wellbeing Psychology for Children, Adolescents, Parents, Adults, Families and Couples.
Also, she is trained and specialized to use Emotional Intelligence Values (EQ) for the better emotional development and balance for children, adolescents and adults with Dr. Daniel Goleman, “father” of emotional intelligence theory. In addition, she has specialized in Harvard University to use the “Multiple Intelligence Theory” of Dr. Howard Gardner. She has also specialized to support and guide children and adolescents with learning differences and eating disorders.
Ms. Thanopoulou is a Distinguished member of the Hellenic Association for Counseling (HAC 01250) and Full member of the European Association for Counselling (EAC 0080) and Full member of the American Psychological Association (APA 81153384) since 1996.
She is an active member of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association of Harvard University – Harvard Club of Greece for more than fifteen years, where she has served as vice president and general secretary of the Board.
She has worked for over 25 years in Education and Psychology as a Director of the Center of Counseling and Learning Differences in Greece at International Schools such as Pierce College, American College of Greece & στο TASIS/ ISA: Τhe International School of Athens. Currently she runs her own private practice in Athens Greece, providing counseling support to Children, Adolescents, Parents, Families and Couples. She also provides counseling support to patients at Athens Medical Partners clinical offices.
She has presented her scientific work and research in Greece and abroad at various International Conventions, Congresses and Seminars, such as at Harvard Graduate School of Education, HGSE, Harvard Medical School HMS, at the National University of Athens Medical and Dental Schools, at the Panteion University of Political Sciences. She has also presented seminars and lectures at Cultural Foundations such as the “B and M Theocharakis Foundation for Arts and Culture”, The ” Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center” and the “Onassis Foundation”
She is a regular columnist in the fields of Psychology, Education, Couples Relations, Relations of Children and Parents, Wellbeing and Mindfullness and the Development of Emotional Intelligence at various websites such as: Huffington Post.gr, Thrive global.gr , Brainy.gr and Published Press and Weekly Newspapers, such as: KATHIMERINI, VIMAGAZINO.
She is a member of the Scientific Commitee of the Hellenic Financial Literacy Institute, an institution devoted to the cultivation of the importance of Financial Literacy in Children. She also offers her services at various NGOs with significant philanthropic and social activities such as the “Make a wish Foundation”, “Safe Water Sports”, “ELEPAP”, “Together for the Children” and especially the “Home Project”, a NGO providing education and psychosocial support to unaccompanied refugee children in Greece. In collaboration with the “Home Project” she trains “Instructors and Trainers”, to help refugee children assimilate better in their new social environment.
She has also received awards from the UNESCO Chapter of Pireus, for her contribution in Education, Counseling and Volunteerism.
